the brotherhood 7 | excerpts

Auld Lang Syne (Stargate SG-1) | written by Kiva

It wasn’t as if this was his first New Year's without Charlie and Sara. Nor even the first he’d managed to stay relatively sober. It just seemed…harder somehow, this time around.

Bait (Stargate: Atlantis) | written by Lorr54

Growing numbness made it nearly impossible to feel the radio under his fingers. He tried to flex them but the movement amplified a deep ache in his hands and arms that set in soon after he entered the water. He kept opening and closing them with a sense of urgency. More than his own life depended on it.

Defender of the Faith (Torchwood) | written by Sam Starbuck

Her reign of terror had been short but memorable; she'd been shunted there for six months after Brenda died and until Three could train a new leader. Nobody'd liked it. Jack least of all, because he did sort of feel that after a hundred years of service, a promotion might be in order.
He'd never wanted his promotion the way he eventually got it.

Derailed (The Sentinel) | written by Lyn

Jim frowned, but his heart wasn’t into giving his roommate a lecture. He could see Blair was far from well, and the way he was holding his ribs meant he’d probably had less sleep than Jim with all the coughing he’d done during the night. “I’m just trying to help here, Chief.” Blair smiled at that. “I could really use you back at the station with me,” Jim added, “but Simon’s not going to be happy with you coming in sounding like Typhoid Mary.” He headed out into the kitchen to retrieve his own dinner as Blair sipped at his soup with little enthusiasm. “Oh, by the way, I got you something.”

First Time For Everything (Numb3rs) | written by Zubeneschamali

He could also see traces of hope and even wariness on Don's face. Charlie had been complaining to himself for years that he and his brother never understood each other, and that even once they started spending time together as adults, it was only in the context of FBI work. Now here it was, a golden opportunity to do something just for fun, and he was thinking about chickening out.

Half Empty, Half Full (Navy NCIS) | written by Yum@

He wouldn't be ordering a beer here. Not that he wanted a beer. He only drank it because his father never did. Beer was too low-class, too blue-collar for a DiNozzo to drink. Papa DiNozzo preferred things that were gold in color, really old, and required a fancy crystal-cut glass, even if you never filled them up to the brim.

Barry White Never Sang About This (Supernatural) | written by K Hanna Korossy

He was turning around to face her again, and had just enough time to see her shove something at him and to feel it jam into his stomach hard below his ribs. That was when the fire began to flow through his body.

Going Dutch (Stargate Atlantis) | written by liketheriver

The thing about meet and greets, I’ve decided, is that it all comes down to the food. For example, I hate going to M4X-431 because the Lavorans never serve food. Granted, the gate is located in a tropical region, so that most of the inhabitants wear little more than these strappy little leather bikinis. And the Lavoran women can give Teyla a run for her money in the taut and toned arena. Not to mention that they usually greet us with this dance that is a little like the hula and a lot like pole dancing… Okay, maybe M4X-431is a bad example, because, now that I think about it, I really don’t hate going there. In fact, I kind of enjoy it. But the point is, if they served a nice buffet to go along with the welcome show, I might be inclined to retire on that planet.

Also stories from Sheila Paulson, Wendymr, Annie, Auburn and much more. 17 stories, 392 pages!
